DJ Profile
DJ Hullewud started listening to and collecting hip-hop vinyl, and cassettes in the mid-’80s. By the early 90’s he started to play around with turntables and pursue the skill of becoming a hip-hop DJ.
By mid-2000s DJ Hullewud had become part of Sausage Gut Radio on Radio Western. He also piloted the annual Word Up! 24-hour hip-hop programming dedicated to celebrating the birth of hip-hop culture which airs every August on Radio Western.
In April of 2017, Hullewud launched his award-winning Break North Radio show on Radio Western 94.9FM. Break North Radio has also aired on WRAP.fm as of February 2019. The show features a mix of boom-bap, underground, Canadian and old-school classics and interviews with hip-hop legends and upcoming artists.
